My summer 2010 weddings came to a close with Amber and Tim's. They are such an incredible couple! I am so glad to know them and to have had the privilege of being a part of their day. The whole day was just beautiful- in every way possible. The location, the Beckenridge Vineyard, was absolutely stunning. It provided a beautiful, but intimate setting that was the perfect backdrop for the celebration.
First off, a few detail pictures of the ceremony site.
And I had to throw in a bling picture. Couldn't help myself! ;)
Getting ready...
I loved the bouquet. Muchly. It was totally unique and out of the ordinary- which I am a big fan of!
The guys looking snazzy:
The Fish men:
The ladies looking smashing:
I really like this picture that my second shooter, Naomi, grabbed of Tim.
The first look
I had to share this one family pic...super cute! :)
We took advantage of the beautiful lighting to take some post-ceremony shots of the couple. The lighting was yuuuuummmy! Like I could have eaten it for dessert. I wish I could just bottle it up and take it with me everywhere...for every photo shoot. I can dream, can't I?
Looking good, Amber! :)
Party time!
The first dance- loved it!
Some reception details:
All in all, it was a wonderful day. And a perfect end to the wedding season! I am, surprisingly, looking forward to next year's weddings!
But I can't end this post without giving a shout out to my amazing assistant, Naomi. She went over and beyond the call of duty and was totally rock-star ALL day. :) Plus, she is part ninja. Which is a bonus when you are trying to get those hard-to-reach shots. ;)
I did a photoshoot with one of my favorite families the other day. At 7 a.m. Yikes. The lighting was amazing- the ONLY reason why I could consider dragging myself out of bed at such an ungodly hour. ;) Also, they are the only family that I know that can be so CRAZY at 7 a.m. haha. I have known them FORever. Like I don't know a time when I didn't know them. So many good memories along the way! I also shot Tim's wedding last Thursday and shall be posting those pictures very, very soon!
I had the pleasure of shooting Becca and Chip's wedding on July 24th. It was so much fun to spend the day with them, celebrating their love. They are crazy- in the best sense of the word! So much fun to be around! :)
Becca stole my main assistant to be her maid of honor, so I was forced to press a different sister into service. ;) I think having many siblings to dole out the work to is imperative for the success of a photographer. ;)
And here they are looking all loverly...
What awesome lighting! The heat was in the mid 90s all day so we were hard pressed to find shade, but we did! And there's nothing like pictures with some epic backlighting goin' on. :)
Both of the dads performed the ceremony. Made it so sweet and personal!
Over the past months I've really not been able to devote much time to my photography business. I've been so focused on getting my EMT certification and working towards becoming a Paramedic that everything else has just fallen by the wayside. Looking back, I think it's been a good break for me. I had a chance to disassociate photography with work and put it back into the place where it belongs. A passion. A joy. A hobby.
I've been gradually fitting it back into my life and have loved "rediscovering" the joys of photography all over again. I've had a chance to really think about my purpose in having this business and how I can work harder at accomplishing that purpose. I know that God has given me a love for photography for a reason and I want to be purposeful in how I use it.
I've given almost all of the editing work over to my little sister (my first full-time employee- yay! lol. ;)) It was simply way too much for me to handle and she does a great job...and doesn't charge too much. ;) Most of the pictures that you see on this blog are the result of her handiwork.
I have also had the opportunity to work on the aspects of my business that have been bugging me and I finally have a chance to improve on! One of those areas was packaging. Now, because I am keeping my business infant size, I don't do any printing. I always send my clients a DVD of the pictures. After sending of way too many tacky and dingy packages, I finally decided something needed to be done! My sister, Gretchen, found a wonderful design for packaging CDs and we spent a whole day running around town coming up with supplies. Our first three turned out really, really cute. I love how each package is different and I can custom make it to fit my client's style. Plus, it's really fun to be able to do something crafty for a change! ;)
Okay, here's one extremely long picture post! Just to make up for how long it's been since I last posted. :) As I mentioned in my last post, Hayley and Isaac's wedding was beautiful! The whole day just went so smoothly and we were able to get some great pics. Note to future brides and grooms: leave LOTS of time for couple pictures. We had almost an entire hour for just pictures with the bride and groom and it was amazing because we had so much time just to do anything and everything.
We headed over to Hayley's apartment early that morning to get some getting ready pictures of the ladies. It is always so much fun to be right in the middle of the excitement. :)
The park where we intended on taking pictures was completely closed (yikes) so we ended up at a nearby nature park. The location change ended up working out for the best. I loved. loved. loved it!
Isaac looking all dapper.
I loved her dress! Simply a classic...
See! I told you it was a good location!
I love this much.
The downside here? Everyone had allergies. Except me. How ironic. I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I try to drag an entire bridal party through a field of weeds.
Sorry! :| You guys were troopers, though. :)
The gang...
The flower girl was sooo adorable. So much personality! :)
A couple shots from the ceremony...
See these? Heaven.
And finally....the grand send off!
There was a million more pictures I could have posted. It was so hard to narrow it down! But...that should be good for now, right?
I am so happy with how the pictures turned out from my June 19th wedding. Though we had a bit of a location fiasco, it turned out to be for the best and we got some amazing shots. Definitely a God thing! In fact, the whole WEEKEND was a God thing.
I could not have survived or managed any of this without a huge dose of grace and strength.
We have been having non-stop rain and it didn't look like things would cooperate for our pictures at the park or the outdoor ceremony. However, God graciously provided the most amazing sunny day!
It was such a pleasure to be able to be part of Hayley and Isaac's day. I am always aware of what a privilege it is to be able to see what goes on 'behind the scenes' on a wedding day. So precious and wonderful!
With every wedding, I am feeling more and more comfortable with my style and picture taking techniques. Definitely a plus!
I will post more pictures as soon as we get them edited. But I doubt you believe me... ;)
Brianna and I had the wonderful opportunity to take pictures of Stephanie and Chris the day before their wedding. It was so much fun to be able to hang out with them before the big day to just relax and have fun. We were a bit apprehensive about the weather for that weekend, but it ended up being quite beautiful. A rare day as far as costal weather goes. They only had thirty minutes for this shoot before heading to their rehearsal dinner, but we were able to get some awesome shots in that short time period. I am so thankful that they made time for this. Plus, it was an added bonus to be able to meet the groom, Chris before the wedding on Saturday. I was so thankful for that!
It was such a pleasure meeting this wonderful couple. They really represent what a God-centered relationship should be like. Every element of their wedding was simply beautiful...but those pictures will be coming later! :)
Spring has finally arrived. How amazing is that?? ;) Every year I am always surprised at the unsurpassed beauty of new life. (Especially in the form of tulips...haha). I have been keeping busy with school, volunteering and photography. I have my first of my 2010 weddings this Saturday. It is an out of town wedding and I must say I'm quite thrilled to be able to leave for a weekend and do something fun. Well, in reality I will be working my butt off, but at least it's different from what I usually do. ;) I met the beautiful bride, Stephanie, several weeks ago for the first time and am so impressed with her. She has totally taken this whole wedding planning thing in a stride and hasn't let it distract her from what the day is all about. I'm really looking forward to meeting her man, Chris. You can be sure that I will share many images with you on our return.
Please pray that we will be able to bless this fabulous couple with good pictures! And that we would avoid equipment failure (always a good thing to avoid...). ;)
Here's a tribute to my fantastic friend, Cici. She is also a senior this year and embarking on the college adventure very soon! I'm not a bit happy about so many of my friends leaving me this fall, but I am very excited for what God has planned for them. They are all smart, fabulous Jesus-lovers and world changers. Cici and I stuck to the countryside around my home and found some great spots for pictures. Here's the the future... <3
It's that time of year. The time when people decide to grow up and leave forever. Sigh.
I had the great honor and esteemed pleasure of being my friend, Wagner's official senior photographer. We had so much fun being crazy and weird together. We spent most of our time exploring around my house. We found some really awesome locations. The thing I love most about Wagner? She's up for anything. Seriously. I was all like, "hey...can you wade through the water?" or "how about we go into that swamp?" or "Do you mind crawling up that embankment?" And she would always say 'sure!', hike up her dress, kick off her heals and dive right in. I love you, babe! :) You are one of the best-est most beautiful-est people I know. I want to be just like you when I grow up. Because you are just like Jesus. Pick a college near me! ;)
Oh ya...*cough* the result of our rendezvous in the swamp. ;) Good thing we are the best of friends 'cause I'm not sure many other people would have forgiven me for that. ;) haha
I randomly stumbled upon my humble beginnings as a photographer. My first ever photo shoot! I just love, love, love these pictures. They are definitely not samples of any great talent. In fact, they're kind of embarrassing to look at now. :| haha. But, I love the memories that surface with them. It was fun to see how I've been doing photography for so long.
What can I say...when you love it, you love it! :)
I was about thirteen years old.
My little sister, Rachel, was the reluctant model.
(As I recall, it took a great deal of begging and cajoling to convince her to pose for me. Nothings changed...haha).
AND, notice how much my little sister has grown up! She looks so different from my latest post.
I have been doubling my efforts to find lovely photo shoot locations. I feel like I have used them ALL. However, I am once again struck by the fact that sometimes God's best gifts are right on our doorstep. I've spent so much time traipsing around the state trying to find a location that really connects with me. This past Sunday, however, I realized my own folly. I have two of the most beautiful locations only mere minutes away from my house.
Practically in my backyard.
Ya. *cough, cough* It wasn't like I didn't know they were there... (I've done shoots at each of these locations before) It's just easy to forget.
You don't always have to go searching for beauty.
It's easy to find.
If you look for it.
So, without further ado, here are my favorite 'backyard' photo shoot locations. The first is beyond beautiful. It is by far my favorite view. It's so peaceful and refreshing. I learned to drive on the roads winding through these green hills, so they hold lots of memories. ;)
The second also holds a special place in my heart. I can remember walking past this swamp with my family many times growing up. There is something so magical about it.
The way the setting sun turns everything golden.
Very ethereal and fascinating.
Isn't it just asking to be explored?
Once you step into it, however, it kinda loses that magical quality. ;) It's very...marshy. Haha. Just a bit difficult to navigate in high heels. (Ya, I was never a girl scout and the "be prepared" motto was never introduced to me).
Rachel and I were doing a bit of a celebratory shoot as she got her braces off last week. (yay!)
My friend, Scott, once again made himself a hero by creating me these beautiful business cards! Shoot me an email if you'd like some...I have an excessive amount of cards all of a sudden! ;)
